A fine art photography commission can take many forms. It may begin with a person, a place, an event or a story that deserves to be remembered and interpreted in a distinctive visual way. Rather than simply documenting what happens, I look for the atmosphere, human connections, movement and small moments that give the subject its deeper meaning. Here are some examples of projects that could become a commissioned photographic story.

Cultural Events & Heritage

A festival, traditional celebration, theatre production or cultural event can become much more than an event report. I focus on the people, rituals, atmosphere and details that reveal the character and identity behind the occasion. The result can be a carefully curated photographic series that preserves both the visible event and the human stories surrounding it.

Sport Beyond the Competition

Sport offers powerful stories about dedication, emotion, movement and human resilience. Rather than concentrating only on results or decisive sporting moments, a commissioned project can explore the complete world surrounding an athlete, team or sporting event — preparation, concentration, physical effort, disappointment, celebration and the quiet moments in between. Movement and longer exposures can also become part of the visual language, transforming athletic performance into expressive photographic art.

Documentary & Human Stories

Some stories deserve time and attention. A documentary commission can follow a person, community, profession or organisation over a longer period, revealing moments that might otherwise remain unseen. Through observation and genuine human interaction, I aim to create photographs that go beyond documentation and form a visual narrative about people, their environment and their everyday lives.

Buildings, neighbourhoods and landscapes are constantly changing. A photographic commission can document a particular place during a period of transformation — an industrial site before redevelopment, a historic building being restored, a neighbourhood changing character or an architectural project taking shape. By combining architecture with human presence, light and atmosphere, the project becomes a visual interpretation of both place and time.

Artists, craftsmen, designers and makers often have fascinating environments and working processes. Rather than creating only a traditional portrait, I can photograph the relationship between the person, their hands, materials, workspace and creative process. A village, neighbourhood, association or community carries countless small stories. A longer-term photography project can explore the people who shape that community, the places where they meet and the traditions that connect generations.
