Stillness and Timing Amid the Crowd explores the quiet moments of order that can emerge within the constant movement of public life. Inspired by Joel Meyerowitz and his attentive way of observing the street, I am interested in what happens when I stop moving and allow the world to unfold in front of me.

Rather than chasing every possible photograph, I often choose a place that has visual potential and simply wait. People enter and leave the frame, gestures appear, light changes and unexpected relationships begin to develop. The scene is constantly rearranging itself.

Within all that movement, there can suddenly be a moment of remarkable balance. Someone pauses while the crowd continues around them. Two strangers briefly mirror each other's gestures. A shaft of light isolates a person from the surrounding activity. Separate elements that seemed unrelated only seconds before suddenly belong together.

These photographs depend as much on patience as on timing. The challenge is not simply to react quickly, but to recognise when a scene is approaching that brief point of visual harmony.
