Where We Meet

Where We Meet explores the everyday places where people come together. Cafés, markets, parks, public squares, community spaces and living rooms may seem ordinary, yet they form the backdrop to countless human stories.

I am interested not only in these places themselves, but in what happens within them. Conversations begin, friendships are maintained, strangers briefly share the same space and familiar faces become part of a daily routine. Sometimes the connection is obvious; at other times it can be found in something as simple as a glance, a gesture or two people sitting quietly beside one another.

Through observation rather than direction, I photograph these encounters as they naturally unfold. The surroundings remain an important part of each image, because they help tell us something about why people gather and how a particular place becomes meaningful.

Over time, these shared spaces can become much more than their physical surroundings. They become places of familiarity, exchange and belonging.

Where We Meet is ultimately about our need to connect — and the ordinary places that quietly bring us together.
