Why Personal Photography Projects Matter
Discover why personal photography projects are essential for creative growth, visual storytelling and developing your own voice in street, documentary and sports photography.
Photography projects give me a reason to look beyond the single image. Whether I am exploring everyday life on the street, following a documentary story or capturing the world surrounding sport, working in projects encourages me to observe, return and dig deeper. Over time, individual photographs begin to connect and reveal stories that would otherwise remain unnoticed. Personal projects also give me the freedom to experiment, follow my curiosity and develop my own visual language. For me, they are not simply collections of photographs, but an essential part of growing as a photographer.
Back Button Focus — Separating Focus from the Moment
For a long time, I focused the way most photographers do: half-press the shutter button, wait for the camera to focus, then press it completely to take the photograph. It works perfectly well — until you start photographing situations in which things happen quickly and unpredictably. That is where Back Button Focus, or BBF, becomes interesting.
